Yiran has a wise confidence about her that comes from years of work and life experience. Whilst she’s a hawk with attention to detail in her work, she’s not one to sweat the small things that can distract her from the ‘big picture’ or sway her positive outlook.

As a young girl she was learning English and her American tutor was in need of submitting his US Tax return so she tagged along with him to visit PwC in Beijing. It was in that moment in the flashy office in awe of meeting the Tax Director of the time that she decided that she was one day going to grow up to become an Accountant!

Yiran finished her high school studies, moved to the UK to study Accounting and Finance at Durham University and applied for an internship with PwC. She landed her dream job working in Tax at a big firm. It was a fast paced, high standards role, that was very competitive, and she thrived in that environment.

She stayed there for a few years before landing her next role working in Industry for an LPG supplier in the midlands, UK. As long as it was a cold winter, business was booming in Gas and it was a great period of learning from within the business. An opportunity to move to Australia came up and it was an exciting adventure for the family. So they packed up and moved down under.

Whether it’s moving for a new adventure, or learning technical knowledge, Yiran loves being on a lifetime learning journey of growth. She remembers pouring over the thin pages of the hard copies of tax legislation to study its contents and many definitions. A normal highlighter would bleed through the thin pages, so she sourced a special highlighter so she could highlight important paragraphs in her studies of tax law.

Humbly confident, she’s keenly focussed on engaging the many talents and skills of the Martin & Martin team while helping our wide ranging, interesting and fascinating clients feel empowered and confident in their financial needs.
