Kumbi Mukaro
Superannuation Team Leader
Once Kumbi has you in her orbit, her vibrant energy field pulls you in and you’re mesmerised by her positivity and curiosity. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, to entrepreneurial parents who love a business challenge, it was in about Grade 3 that she first looked up the word ‘accountant’ because she liked the sound of the word. Kumbi from a young age loved playing ‘budget’s and ‘business’ with her imaginary money, a bike in tow and her business ideas flipping over.
A conscientious learner, Kumbi came to Australia as a teenager with the world at her feet and a curiosity to satisfy. Kumbi loves language and law and she toyed with studying journalism but she couldn’t shake her eternally bubbling interest in business. Before the final year of her high schooling was out she settled on Law/Commerce.
Studying at Flinders University in Adelaide, the convergence of Law and Commerce and how that plays out in Superannuation piqued Kumbi’s interest and she’s been down a rabbit warren of Super since. She loves the exploration of legal, governance and case law. Never one to sit still, Kumbi is deeply curious, wise, infectiously friendly yet vibrant and wise. Even whilst studying Superannuation her love of writing didn’t waver so she also studied script writing at RMIT at night school. Fast tracking her sixth sense in being able to read a room and see the bigger picture of how a moment is created, played out and its relation to the wider world.
Kumbi is fascinated in the ability for businesses to thrive in varying economic environments and the vital function that strong advisory plays in supporting the creative mind. These days she practices both Accounting and Mindfulness being both a Chartered Accounted as well as an accredited mindfulness and meditation teacher. In her spare time she has also worked to create Dreamseed, a mentorship program for African girls run in alliance with Victoria University.
Kumbi has so much to offer, we’re so excited to have this empathetic, worldy, passionate, respectful, and lovely soul driving our Superannuation learning, development, vision and execution at Martin & Martin.
