Marjorie brings over eight years of taxation experience to the Martin & Martin team, including deep expertise in the Philippine tax system from her roles throughout the beautiful tropical country. Marjorie is driven by a genuine love of learning so when the opportunity to join the Martin & Martin team arose, she didn’t hesitate, drawn by the firm’s welcoming culture, the chance to stretch herself across a diverse client base, and the opportunity to learn a different system in the Australian taxation system.

Taxation is a field that never stands still, and that suits Marjorie just fine. She stays on top of ever-changing guidelines and takes pride in the precision her work demands, few things give her more satisfaction than a perfectly balanced reconciliation or a set of financial statements brought cleanly across the line.

Based out of the Martin & Martin Philippines office, Marjorie grew up in Santa Ignacia, an agricultural hub in the province of Tarlac. Her parents were farmers and she’d first heard of Accounting as a good profession that compared to her simpler life growing up would enable her to ‘get rich’ whilst doing rewarding work – she cheekily states that this was ‘fake news’ 🙂

Marjorie has embraced the cultural shift of working with ‘Aussies’ wholeheartedly. She smiles recalling the adjustment from ‘Island time’ to the direct, punctual pace of Australian professional life, and has come to appreciate the warmth and patience her colleagues bring to the workplace.

Working as part of Victor’s team and speaks fondly of the approachable, supportive environment Martin & Martin fosters. A culture that values work-life balance and gives people the room to grow whilst offering patience and approachability with learning new skills and systems.

Outside the office, Marjorie has taken up tennis, enjoying the combination of a new challenge and the friendships it brings. At home she’s the quiet, cheeky one, in the office, colleagues know her as a calm, easy-going presence and a great listener, the person you go to when you need a level head and honest advice with a sprinkle of an infectious smile and giggle to cheer you up.
