Senior Manager

Martin & Martin is a growing and evolving business, and right now we have a rare opportunity for a dynamic, client and people focussed Senior Manager who, with the right mix of specialised skills and passion for empowering clients in their quest for success, could prove to be just the right partner for our future.

The role:
  • Delivering our Purpose.  You’ll be passionate about empowering clients with your deep technical experience and a keen interest in what makes them tick so you can come up with both practical and inspired solutions to their unique challenges.
  • Leading the team. You’ll have people performance and development responsibilities for a small team directly and for the whole team as a business leader.  You’ll teach, mentor and develop others generously while always being open to new challenges yourself.
  • Run a Business within a Business.  Supported by our Directors, you’ll have responsibility for leading the charge on a large group of business and investment clients, becoming their trusted advisor and meeting their varied needs.
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Deep experience in Tax and Business Services and enough broader experience in complimentary areas to help make the sound and at times challenging business decisions required of this level of seniority.
  • A keen sense of interest in knowing and understanding clients, an empathetic ear to their needs that builds close relationships.

The qualifications and experience you need include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 8 to 10 years of accounting experience working with a range of clients and industries.
  • 3 – 5 years of management experience building and developing team members from diverse backgrounds.

Intermediate Accountant

Martin & Martin are on the look out for an intermediate accountant. You will be working with family groups and interesting corporate structures.

Responsibilities for this role:
  • Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and other compliance reports for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies
  • BAS, IAS and quarterly management reports and correspondence to clients
  • Assist in tax planning and advisory work
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Understanding the client from a holistic perspective to deliver valuable services
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
  • 2 – 4 years experience in a public practice
  • CA or CPA completed or near completion. We offer study support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and our team – Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive attitude, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Ideally experienced with Xero
  • Strong numeracy skills and capacity to understand complex structures

Graduate Accountant

Martin & Martin are on the look out for a graduate accountant. Initially you will be encouraged to enhance your accounting skills and gain a solid understanding of tax compliance. You will be preparing work of a high quality and in an efficient manner supporting your Manager.

Responsibilities for this role:
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Completion of income tax returns
  • Other tax related services like BAS, IAS, Auditor-liaison.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
  • You must like business and understand why? If you are not interested in what makes a business tick or how the law works then this is probably not for you.
    Strong academic credentials. We are looking for at least a credit average. We know your results are not everything but they tell a story of hard work and application.
  • Present and communicate well. You don’t need to win at karaoke or be the best dancer, but you have to be able to hold your own.
  • Understand the mix between work and play. We try to have fun at work, but when there is work to be done – we are hard at it. Our clients come first – always.
  • Be organised and respect deadlines. We are flexible, but there is also structure.
  • Have initiative. We love to teach but you must want to learn. You need to take responsibility for your development.
  • Must be able to work in Australia
  • Experience is not necessary, but could be an advantage.
